The University is one of Britain’s most exciting new universities and a major player in higher education. One of the top ten campus universities in the UK by student number, it attracts a cosmopolitan mix of students from 122 countries and all backgrounds.

The University has five campuses across the South Wales region including new state-of-the-art campuses in Cardiff and Newport city centres. Rail and road links are excellent across all campuses.
The University of South Wales is unusual in the UK in bringing together the broadest range of provision and the widest access to education.  It offers a full range of qualifications from further education level to degrees and PhD study.

Sports students train and play on facilities used and endorsed by world champions such as the All Blacks.

The University is a powerhouse in applied research used to shape major decisions.
As a major public policy think-tank, it offers independent advice to government, industry and employers across the UK on health, education, economic growth, social policy, and governance.
It provides a partnership platform for ideas and debate with major think-tanks such as the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and NESTA.

University College of Football Business (UCFB)

A World First in Higher Education, UCFB delivers undergraduate degrees and executive education in the administrative, management, creative and operational business facets of the global multi-billion pound football, sports and leisure industries. UCFB Wembley is located within the world-class Wembley Stadium, the spiritual home of English football and sports. UCFB Burnley resides at Turf Moor, home of Premier League team Burnley FC.  Each individual student at UCFB has the opportunity to study a traditional academic subject within the context of an industry for which they have a genuine passion and interest. At UCFB we have selected our degree programmes with great care in partnership with the wider and global sports industries to ensure that not only do our students have best-in-class business and management capabilities but also understand the skills required and the nuances of the range of sports careers.

UCFB bridges the gap between education and business. Students have significantly more contact time than those at traditional UK universities, allowing a unique approach to education. We provide two curricula; the traditional academic curriculum encompasses the exams and coursework where students are taught by leading figures in football business and sports academia, and our Complementary CurriculumTM, a three year journey of professional and personal development with access to best-in-class industry guest speakers and extensive work experience opportunities.

UCFB has the highest quality standards for its degrees. There is a common core across the degrees in the first year so that all students benefit from a broad exposure to the fundamentals of business management. You will develop a chosen specialism as well as an understanding of how this fits in with other core disciplines in the football and wider sports industry. The special features of the football and sports industry are also identified in each business studies module, exploring the core fundamentals of the football and sports sector. In the second year, the study time is divided between the football and/or sports business pathway and your chosen specialism.

The third year includes a football or sports business research project (dissertation). You will graduate with the satisfaction of having researched a pressing issue in the football and sports industry through having had the opportunity to discuss your work decisions and recommendations with those in the football and sports business grappling with the very same question(s).

Colleges have the discretion to make non-standard offers where appropriate as part of their holistic assessment of candidates. Applicants may be asked to submit written work or sit a test (i.e. BMAT or a college-based test). The university interviews the majority of its undergraduate applicants.  Courses cover the subject very broadly in the initial years and then become more specialised within a wide range of options in the later years. Cambridge is at the international forefront of excellence in teaching and research. Performance league tables consistently place Cambridge among the world's top-ranking institutions. Supervisions, small group tutorials with a senior member of the university, are one of the unique advantages of the teaching at Cambridge.

In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 71% of academic staff were deemed to be producing world-leading or internationally excellent research – the highest proportion of outstanding research in the UK.  Cambridge has produced 89 Nobel Prize winners. The university has one of the highest levels of graduate employment in the UK. Every college has a computer suite, linked to the university network and available (usually round the clock) for work and email. Each college library contains the standard texts needed for an undergraduate course, as well as other materials. The university provides extensive library facilities in every department. The university library is a copyright library, meaning it receives by law a copy of every book published in Britain. The union exists to represent Cambridge students' interests at a university level, and to provide central services and support for all students. A wide range of sports are catered for at university and college level. Sports facilities include playing fields, courts, boathouses and often additional facilities such as multi-gyms. Recent/Prospective New Builds

An ongoing estate development programme is currently valued at more than £430 million, with major new faculty, research and accommodation facilities. Since the university terms are short and highly demanding on students' time and intellectual capabilities, the university strongly discourages taking on part-time work during term time.

Brunel University London

Brunel College of Advanced Technology was awarded its Royal Charter in 1966, becoming Brunel University. Named after I. K. Brunel, the university has sought to emulate the great engineer's energy, creativity and practicality. A succession of developments and mergers has brought the University from modest beginnings to become a major force both within the UK higher education sector and on the international stage. Located in Uxbridge on the outskirts of London, Brunel is one of the very few campus-based universities within the M25. Brunel is just a few miles from Heathrow Airport, the M4, M40 and M25, and is served by excellent bus services. Uxbridge is served by the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines on the London Underground. All courses comprise self-contained modules or study blocks, most offering optional topics so you can tailor your course to suit your interests. One of Brunel’s most distinctive features is the commitment to including periods of work experience – sandwich placements – in many courses to help students develop the practical knowledge and skills required to succeed in the competitive graduate job market. The University offers programmes with an integrated foundation year in Engineering or IT and maths to prepare non-specialists in those areas or those who do not meet the standard entry criteria, for level 1 of relevant degree courses.

Brunel maintained a good performance overall in the 2013 NSS with outstanding success for the Library and Academic Skills Service. Brunel’s focus on research benefits students as it ensures course content is relevant and up to date. Many programmes have external validation/accreditation from professional bodies, for example, Journalism, Mechanical Engineering and Physiotherapy.

The latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), carried out in all UK universities in 2008, judged 82% of our research to be of international standing. As a result of this success, the university secured a 54.5% increase in the level of its research funding from the Higher Education Funding Council, rising to £12.9 million for 2009–10. The higher education sector averaged an increase of just 7.8%.
Brunel University Institute for the Environment’s research, revealing the link between chemicals in rivers and reproductive health, won the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2011.

Students are encouraged to undertake practical placements and projects as an integral part of their course. Brunel’s courses are underpinned by internationally-renowned research in a range of subjects from Cancer Genetics and Human-Centred Design to Contemporary Music and Sport Psychology. High-quality academics are the core of any university and our profile has transformed as more internationally renowned academics continue to join Brunel – Performance Poet Benjamin Zephaniah is Professor of Poetry and Creative Writing, and author Will Self is Professor of Contemporary Thought. The Library, open 24 hours during term time, is located at the centre of the campus, provides you with many of the study resources you will need during your time at Brunel, including. an extensive collection of books, journals and audio-visual materials, online databases, including over 150,000 eBooks and over 36,000 eJournals, 1,200 study spaces and nearly 500 PCs, in a range of environments, including group study rooms and silent study areas, induction sessions, information skills training and one-to-one support, as well as support in the use of statistics and packages such as SPSS,
